DESCRIPTION: The fundamental purpose of this course is to formalize and expand students’ geometric experiences from the middle grades. Students explore more complex geometric situations and deepen their explanations of geometric relationships, moving towards formal mathematical arguments. This course will be taught at a deeper level than the Geometry course with a greater emphasis on related applications. Students should expect to be challenged by the material and the pace at which it is presented. A state exam is given at the end of this course and will require students to explain, justify, interpret, draw, and label their conclusions algebraically and geometrically.
